Аннотация: В статье рассматриваются новые аттестации аккадской лексемы muškēnum (досл. «склоняющийся ниц») в корпусе клинописных текстов из Мари (XVIII в. до н. э.). Эти аттестации, общим числом 27, происходят из 24 эпистолярных документов, впервые изданных или переизданных в период с 2013 по 2023 год. Как показывает изученный материал, слово мушкенум может быть задействовано в уже известных семантических оппозициях: мушкенумы противопоставляются дворцу, царям, сановникам, представителям племенной знати. Иногда мушкенумами называются лица, отличные от представителей рядового пастушеского населения ( «ханеев») и от некоторых категорий земледельцев ( «колодезных крестьян»). В корпусе присутствуют контексты, в которых слово мушкенум выступает функциональным эквивалентом словосочетания «граждане (такого-то) города». С определенной осторожностью можно утверждать, что лексема мушкенум отсылала прежде всего к свободному, независимому сельскому и городскому населению, владевшему землей вне государственного фонда и привлекавшемуся властями к различным повинностям. Вместе с тем некоторые представители группы мушкенумов могли вступать в более тесные отношения с государством: это выражалось в обработке дворцовых земель и выплате государству полагавшихся за это платежей. Стоит также отметить смысловой нюанс слова мушкенум – «рядовой, незнатный человек, простолюдин»: он возникал в контексте противопоставления свободных людей лицам более высокого ранга, представлявшим государственные или племенные потестарные структуры.

Аннотация: В «Деяниях божественного Августа» принцепс намеренно не называет прямо своих политических оппонентов: Антония, Брута и Кассия, Лепида, Секста Помпея и других. Такая тактика объясняется его желанием дистанцироваться от образа участника гражданских войн. Однако, воссоздавая свою политическую биографию, Август вынужден обращаться к событиям, где эти «безымянные» фигуры играли ключевую роль. Противоречие между необходимостью нарратива и практикой damnatio memoriae порождает особый описательный язык памятника, который до сих пор почти не становился предметом специального изучения. В статье предпринимается попытка выявить и систематизировать литературные приемы, лежащие в основе языка damnatio memoriae.

Аннотация: В статье затрагивается проблема анализа отдельных экономических терминов, которые часто встречаются в текстах различного содержания. Несмотря на весьма схожий и порой идентичный перевод близких друг к другу экономических понятий, особенно таких терминов, как inw и bAkw, между ними, как кажется, все же можно провести определенную смысловую грань, которая прослеживается при более подробном рассмотрении источников. Основополагающее различие между двумя терминами состоит, на наш взгляд, главным образом в характере обозначаемых ими поступлений: если термином inw обозначались нерегулярные сборы в соответствии с нуждами государства, то термин bAkw обозначал регулярно отчислявшуюся в пользу государства часть продукции и доходов населения Египта.

Аннотация: В статье предпринимается попытка проанализировать взаимодействие локальных групп жречества с режимом Птолемеев в III в. до н.э. Большинство современных моделей, описывающих взаимодействие власти и жречества, рассматривают жречество как единую корпорацию. В работе было выделено несколько локальных групп жреческой элиты: жречество Мемфиса, жречество Фиваиды и жречество Дельты. Каждая из этих групп старалась получить расположение власти и обеспечить себе особый статус в царстве Птолемеев. В правление первых двух Птолемеев наиболее значимое положение заняло жречество Дельты, с которым власть взаимодействует особенно активно. При Птолемее III намечаются изменения: роль жречества Дельты уменьшается, в то время как жреческие элиты Мемфиса и Фив становятся более значимы для власти. К концу III в. до н.э. позиции мемфисского жречества стали особенно крепкими, тогда как фиванское жречество, утратив влияние, инициировало восстание. Провал этого восстания окончательно обозначает ключевое значение жречества Мемфиса для царской власти.

Аннотация: В статье рассматривается политическая система классических майя, в которой выделяется три категории династических браков, служившие инструментом в руках элиты для реализации различных интересов, например, легитимизации власти или установления иерархии. В работе проанализированы примеры гипергамных династических браков, предполагавших, что более могущественный правитель берет себе в жены царевну из менее значимой политии. Матримониальные связи не были случайными и преследовали конкретные политические цели с обеих сторон. Вопросом в таком случае будет – какие задачи могли быть реализованы посредством брачных связей между династиями, а сама степень их «реализованности» и итоги, последовавшие за междинастическими браками, могут стать ответом на проблему их эффективности.

Аннотация: В статье рассматриваются суждения по проблеме определения понятия «эллинизм», высказанные в 2000–2020-х гг. отечественными исследователями (С.Ю. Сапрыкиным, И.Е. Суриковым, А.С. Балахванцевым, О.Л. Габелко, автором статьи и др.). Сформулированы вновь или подтверждены мнения о нефункциональности понятия «протоэллинизм» и, применительно к материалу Ближнего и Среднего Востока, понятия «предэллинизм», о значимости разочарования граждан полиса в его ценностях для наступления его кризиса, о принципиальной роли единой монархической традиции в интеграции эллинистического мира, об особенностях эллинизма на Востоке и принципах определения понятия «постэллинизм». В заключительной части статьи автор предлагает общую интерпретацию понятия «эллинизм» как обозначения совмещения в единой ойкумене после завоеваний Александра разнородных процессов: эволюции экономики, общества и государственности как Греции, так и Востока; кризиса греческого полиса в IV в. до н.э.; становления территориальных государств в Македонии, Понте и на Боспоре; мировоззренческого переворота «осевого времени». Данные процессы начались за несколько веков до наступления эллинизма, и значимым импульсом к ним стал переход на Ближнем и Среднем Востоке и в Средиземноморье к железному веку.

Аннотация: Посмертно были опубликованы три книги переводов из античной и византийской литературы, выполненных О.В. Смыкой; многие из этих переводов увидели свет впервые. В данной заметке рассматриваются тексты из этих книг, авторы которых (от Флавия Филострата, II–III вв. н.э., до Иоанна Цеца, XII в.) обращались к событиям Троянской войны. Подчеркивается, что целый ряд памятников, которые ранее были недоступны русским читателям, не владеющим классическими языками, теперь благодаря О.В. Смыке может войти в круг их чтения, и это следует только приветствовать.

Аннотация: Впервые публикуется «Послесловие к сборнику “Античный способ производства в источниках”» (1934), принадлежащее перу С.А. Жебелёва и хранящееся в его же фонде в Санкт-Петербургском филиале Архива РАН. В рукописи автор представляет собственную историю создания хрестоматии «Античный способ производства в источниках», вышедшую под эгидой Государственной академии истории материальной культуры в 1933 г. С.А. Жебелёв подчеркивает свою ведущую роль в осуществлении проекта и свидетельствует о недостаточной компетентности сотрудников сектора рабовладельческой формации ГАИМК, привлеченных к переводу источников. С.И. Ковалёв, который, как и С.А. Жебелёв, выступал редактором данного сборника, на деле принимал минимальное участие в его создании, сосредоточившись на решении актуальных в начале 1930-х гг. теоретических вопросов античной / рабовладельческой формации в русле марксизма. Публикация сопровождается комментариями и вводной статьей.
